Breaking Masks

In creating "Breaking Masks," I began by sketching ideas to represent the anxiety caused by adult rules and the desire to escape. I chose oil pastels for their vibrant color and texture, which helped illustrate the emotional weight of breaking free from societal masks. I experimented with various strokes and layering techniques to enhance the contrast between the oppressive dark tones of the masks and the liberating bright colors of the emerging true self. The process involved refining details to highlight the dynamic action of the masks shattering, emphasizing liberation and clarity in the composition.
